WHY CHIROPRACTIC?
Training Facts
- If the flexibility of the cervical curve is lost, the spine's ability to withstand axial compression (head collision) is reduced by 50%.
- Cervical spine quadriplegia is the direct result of axial loading of the cervical spine from one player impacting another with the top of the football helmet.
- Wrestlers have a 20% chance of injuring their neck during any season if they have had no previous injury, with those injuries ranging from moderate to severe. If a pre-existing injury exists, the rate goes up to 50%. Most of these injuries occur during the takedown.
- One third of collegiate freshman football players show a deformity of the posterior elements of the spine, vertebral body fracture, intervertebral disc degeneration, spurring and instability.
- An athlete is more succeptable to muscle strain, or ligamentous injury of the lower extremity with the pelvis rotated posteriorly.
DID YOU KNOW that chiropractic care of the athlete will reduce the likelihood, or eliminate the chance of some of the above events from occurring?
